Sending PDFs on WhatsApp

WhatsApp lets you send documents up to 100 MB, but only when you attach them as a document — share a PDF through the 'photo or video' path and it gets re-encoded and capped far lower. Use the document picker (the paperclip, then Document) to get the full allowance. Even then, smaller is kinder: the person on the other end may be on mobile data or a slow connection, and a 3 MB file arrives in seconds where a 90 MB one stalls.

Because WhatsApp compresses nothing on the document path, the size you send is the size they download. fits. shrinks the PDF before it ever reaches the chat, and after compressing you can hand off straight to WhatsApp Web from the Send-it row. Confidential documents stay private throughout — the file is processed inside your browser tab and never uploaded anywhere.

Common questions (4)
What's WhatsApp's document size limit?
WhatsApp caps documents at 100 MB. Files larger than this are rejected when you try to attach them in a chat.
Why does fits. compress my PDF below the WhatsApp limit?
Smaller files send faster and use less mobile data on the receiver’s side. We compress for quality + practicality, not just to barely fit the ceiling.
Is it safe to compress confidential PDFs here?
Yes. Your file never leaves your browser. fits. has no server-side component for document handling — compression runs in WebAssembly on your device.
Can I send the compressed file directly to WhatsApp?
Yes — after compression, click "WhatsApp" in the Send-it row. It opens WhatsApp Web with the file in your clipboard, ready to paste into a chat.
